NetSuite environments degrade over time. Scripts accumulate without documentation. Roles get cloned and modified without review. Integrations break silently. Saved searches multiply. A health check identifies what has drifted, what is creating risk, and what needs attention before it becomes a problem during close, during audit, or during a system upgrade.

The Checklist

Security & Access

Count of users with Administrator or Full Access roles

Users with access who have not logged in within 90 days

Segregation of duties matrix reviewed and documented

Two-factor authentication enabled across all roles

Password policy configured (complexity, expiration, lockout)

IP address restrictions in place for sensitive roles

Token-based authentication tokens audited (expired, unused)

Login audit trail reviewed for anomalies

Scripts & Customizations

Total script count and breakdown by type (User Event, Scheduled, Map/Reduce, Client, Suitelet)

Scripts without descriptions or documented owners

Scripts in 'Testing' status that have been there for 30+ days

Governance usage review (scripts approaching limits)

Inactive scripts still deployed (should be undeployed or removed)

Workflow count and status review (active, inactive, orphaned)

Custom record types documented with purpose and relationships

Custom fields without help text or with unclear naming

Integrations

All active integrations documented (source, destination, frequency, owner)

Integration error logs reviewed (last 30 days)

Token expiration dates tracked and renewal process documented

Data validation rules in place for inbound data

Retry logic and failure alerting configured

Sandbox integration testing process exists

Financial Configuration

Chart of accounts structure reviewed (inactive accounts, duplicates)

Period close checklist documented and followed

Intercompany elimination rules configured correctly

Tax configuration reviewed (nexus, tax codes, tax schedules)

Revenue recognition setup validated against current contracts

Bank reconciliation process documented and current

GL impact of custom transactions verified

Performance & Usability

Page load times for key transaction forms (Sales Order, Invoice, Journal Entry)

Saved search performance (searches taking 10+ seconds to load)

Dashboard portlet load times

Form layout review (unnecessary fields, confusing tab structure)

User feedback collected on pain points and workarounds

Mobile access configured for field teams (if applicable)

Process Alignment

Order-to-cash process matches current business operations

Procure-to-pay workflow reflects actual approval chains

Month-end close process documented and optimized

Reporting needs met by existing saved searches and reports

User training materials current and accessible

Change management process in place for system modifications

How to Use This Checklist

Run through this quarterly. Assign an owner to each section. Document findings and create a prioritized remediation plan. The goal is not to fix everything at once. The goal is to know where you stand and address the highest-risk items first.
